Mosaic Art is an ancient decorative technique that continues to express its great aesthetic, communicative value today. It is divided into Pompeian style mosaic made with polychrome marble tesserae and Venetian style mosaic with coloured glass tesserae.

“Painting with Stones”

Handed down to us from ancient Roman craft tradition, Mosaic is a polychrome technique reproducing a design or painting using fragments of coloured stones called tesserae. Used to decorate places of worship, this artistic expression was perfected over the centuries, with a major advancement during the Byzantine Empire.

Art Sacred to the Muses

Its name originates from the Latin musaicum opus – ‘work sacred to the Muses’, protectors of the arts, and due to its qualities of resistance, immutability and durability it was used to decorate courtyards, floors and walls depicting life, mythological subjects and numerous elements from ancient decorative repertoire.

Creative Magic
Timelessness

Thanks to our extensive knowledge of the styles and special characteristics of mosaics, from various historical eras, the Arrighini 'art workshop' has, over the years, created many mosaic works for sacred, monumental and residential architecture projects all over the world.

Each work is carefully studied in detail, from the shape of the tesserae to the different nuances of colour, right down to their positioning on the work surface, in order to imagine and assess the final effect made by the colours and the reflections, based on the type of light that hits them.
