On 22nd February 2023, Santo Domingo celebrated its great heroine Anacaona, the Taíno queen who rebelled against the Spanish Conquistadores, by dedicating a large, three-and-a-half-meter high bronze statue to her, which they commissioned from Arrighini Art Studio, Pietrasanta (Italy).
